AI Assistant Setup

Connect Trainerrr to ChatGPT

Trainerrr is published as an official app in ChatGPT's app directory, and also runs as a remote MCP server for other compatible AI clients. Either way, the assistant works with your own Trainerrr account — it can't see or change anyone else's data.

Connect the ChatGPT app (recommended)

This is the fastest path for most people. No server URLs to copy — ChatGPT lists Trainerrr as a published app you connect in a couple of taps.

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web, desktop, or mobile and sign in to your OpenAI account.
  2. Open the tools menu in a chat, or go to chatgpt.com/apps, and search for Trainerrr.
  3. Open the Trainerrr listing and select Try in chat (you can also connect it later from Settings → Apps & Connectors).
  4. Review the connection request, then sign in to your Trainerrr account when prompted.
  5. Mention @Trainerrr in a message, or just ask ChatGPT to log a workout, log a meal, build a plan, or check your progress — it will offer to use the app.
Manage or disconnect anytime

In ChatGPT, go to Settings → Apps & Connectors → Trainerrr to review permissions or disconnect. Disconnecting in ChatGPT does not delete anything from your Trainerrr account.

Other MCP clients (manual setup)

If your AI client doesn't have Trainerrr in its own app directory yet, you can add the same server by hand in any client that supports remote HTTP MCP servers:

https://mcp.trainerrr.xyz/mcp

The server uses your Trainerrr account to access only your own training data. During setup, your AI client should open a browser sign-in flow for Trainerrr.

  1. Open your AI assistant or MCP client settings.
  2. Find the area for MCP servers, integrations, connectors, or developer tools.
  3. Add a remote MCP server and paste https://mcp.trainerrr.xyz/mcp as the server URL.
  4. If the client asks for a transport type, choose remote HTTP, streamable HTTP, or the closest HTTP-based MCP option.
  5. Complete the Trainerrr browser sign-in flow when prompted.
  6. Ask the assistant to use Trainerrr to log a workout, build a plan, or review your recent training.
Client support varies

MCP settings appear in different places depending on the client. If your client does not support remote MCP servers and doesn't list Trainerrr as a published app, use the Trainerrr mobile app until that support is available.

What you can do with the assistant

  • Log a workout from normal language, including exercises, sets, reps, weight, and notes.
  • Log food and meal estimates, including calories, macros, serving details, and reusable meal entries.
  • Create a workout plan with days, exercises, sets, rest, and progression notes.
  • Search the Trainerrr exercise library while building a plan.
  • Review workout history, weekly progress, and current targets.
  • Add journal notes and check-ins from conversation.

Privacy and access

Access is scoped to the Trainerrr account you sign in with. Do not connect the app or add the server on shared devices unless you trust the AI client and the operating system account.

When you use Trainerrr through ChatGPT or another MCP client, the client sends the workout, food, target, journal, progress-check-in, and image-reference details you choose to share so Trainerrr can complete the requested action for your account. ChatGPT's own listing for Trainerrr explains what it may share with the app (including relevant chats and memories when Memory is enabled) — review that screen before connecting, and see OpenAI's app permissions documentation for how that consent works.
